Join Lit Society for an Explorer Salon—a series of immersive cultural experiences designed to help readers experience familiar places through an entirely new lens.
For this edition, we'll explore The Metropolitan Museum of Art through the lens of epic fantasy. Hosted by Fable & Lark, we'll journey throughout The Met, discovering the real history, works of art, and cultural traditions that have inspired generations of fantasy writers. From medieval armor and ancient legends to grand halls, forgotten kingdoms, and mythical creatures, we'll uncover the surprising connections between history and the readers and art lovers continue returning to today.
We'll explore the artistic and historical influences behind stories like The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and other beloved fantasy epics, while considering why tales of unlikely heroes, impossible quests, ancient magic, and battles between darkness and light continue to resonate across generations.
