The Adoration of the Cherry Tart
Couldn't load pickup availability
Inspired by the ornate embellishments and religious imagery of the baroque period, Ariel deftly parodies the Queen’s obsession with her cherry tart. The tart appears as a centralized, royal figure, while subjugated cherubs struggle with its weight. Rose thorns tear at the cherubs, drawing parallels to the physical violence our nation enacts on Black bodies, and calling us to question what human life is sacrificed on the altar of our material obsessions.
