The Study of Restraint, 2026
Couldn't load pickup availability
In The Study of Restraint, husband-and-wife artist duo Mariel Hannah and Abe Buller (Halifax, VA) explore the hidden weight of being “agreeable to all.” Soft whites, creams, lace, and delicate textures evoke the expectations of feminine perfection, while layered collage introduces tension. A corset symbolizes the ways society disciplines both body and behavior. Through collage and mixed media, Mariel and Abe question where composure ends and restriction begins and what it costs to appear effortlessly perfect.
