Touring Through Carriage Window, English Landscape, 2026

In Touring Through Carriage Window, Tereza Horáček (London) reimagines the English countryside through Elizabeth Bennet’s eyes, capturing the beauty of landscapes glimpsed in motion. Inspired by the pastoral paintings of Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable, the painting layers rich greens and textured brushstrokes to evoke the scenery beyond the carriage. The painting’s fluorescent edges glow around its surface, bringing contemporary energy to this timeless scene. As Elizabeth journeys toward Derbyshire, the landscape becomes a space of anticipation, curiosity, and possibility.
