Cass Waters translates the sweltering August heat in The Great Gatsby into an experiment in color and perception, inspired by the way sunlight once turned her vision red while waiting on a train platform. Her kaleidoscopic, vibrating tones echo the city’s oppressive heat, inviting lethargy and unease. Rooted in her focus on overlooked urban spaces near transit lines, the work finds beauty and urgency in places shaped by grit, noise, and decay.
