A precise colored-pencil illustration Upon Closer Study by the Dallas-based artist Paulette Pearson captures Lizzy standing before his marble portrait, her raised hand hovering near his likeness. Delicate shading brings texture to the marble, fabric, and surrounding details, while the elevated bust preserves the distance that once divided them.
